for Dance Injuries (HCDI) presents a weekend workshop for teachers:
Dance
Medicine for Dance Educators: Specific Concerns
This 2-day hands-on
workshop is specifically designed to address dance educators’ concerns
about the physical and psychological health and well-being of themselves
and their students. Lectures will complement movement workshops and technique
classes; topics include:
Debunking common
myths: Science vs. studio
Teaching methods
for career longevity/Keep your dancers dancing!
Studio survival
tips: Strategies for safety and injury prevention; management of dance
injuries
Precautions and
training considerations for the adolescent dancer
Causes, recognition,
and prevention of dance foot and ankle injuries, with special reference
to ballet and African dance
Biopsychosocial
considerations related to dance injury
Hip hop class
and injury prevention considerations
Ballet class illuminating
the American Ballet Theatre teaching approach
African dance
class
