Matriculated students
in SUNY-ESC's Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree may take
up to 6 of the following Dynamic Embodiment© courses as the key
elective components of their degree. Course selections are made in the
context of an individually designed degree program that fits all MALS
requirements. Other requirements and opportunities concerning the 32-credit

All of the courses are designed and either taught or supervised by Dr.
Martha Eddy, CMA as part of her Dynamic Embodiment Somatic Movement
Therapy Training (DE-SMTT is an ISMETA approved training program for
somatic movement educators and therapists). Dr. Eddy is a master teacher
on both of these certification program faculties having taught with
them since 1984. Her SMTT program is celebrating its 18th year and is
proud to be recognized by SUNY.
Students may also
register for any workshop or the entire Dynamic Embodiment SMTT separately

The courses are:
- The Language and Philosophy of Human Movement - Movement - - - Analysis
and Efficiency (Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals perspectives)
- Human Movement Development—A Physiological Perspective (BodyMind
Centering® principles)
The above two courses are prerequisites for the following:
- Functional and Expressive Aspects of Human Movement in Cultural and
Interdisciplinary Contexts
- Somatic Seminar in Health and Healing: Dynamic Movement, Dynamic Health©/Dynamics
of Touch©/Ethics of Touch and Movement
- The Brain, Development, and Human Behavior
Assessment in Somatic Studies & Movement Performance (applied course)
- Communication Through Movement
- Theories of Wellness: Embodied Approaches
The following advanced courses are available only for students enrolled
in the Dynamic Embodiment SMTT certification program:
- Somatic Applications (applied)
- Advanced Seminar in Somatic Integration
All courses are offered for 3 graduate credits. 6 courses may apply
towards the MALS degree. All 12 courses are part of the DE-SMTT certification
process.
