The Dance Science and Somatics Educators (DSSE, formerly the Dance Kinesiology Teachers) is now accepting proposals for the 2018 summer conference. The conference will be held at the University at Buffalo, Department of Theatre & Dance, August 3-5, 2018, with honoree and guest presenter: Kathryn "Kitty” Daniels. To view the CFP and for more conference information please visit: http://theatredance.buffalo.edu/news/dsse2018/
Proposals are due February 1, 2018.
Join us for a weekend intensive of sharing insights and best practices with colleagues from around the country and beyond. The conference is specifically geared toward studio application, but proposals on other topics related to science and somatics for dancers are welcome. Activities will include discussion, panel presentations and movement sessions with an emphasis on interaction. Presenters will be current or future educators in any of the following areas: dance technique, dance science/anatomy for dance, dance applications of somatics, injury prevention for dancers, or related subjects. We welcome participants and students who have evolving interests in teaching these topics. Registration and general information will be posted at the website above.
The mission of the Dance Science and Somatic Educators is to allow educators to share teaching strategies and educational resources and to allow educators who are integrating dance with science and somatics to meet others who are doing similar work.
