Why do we need to talk about race in dance education?
Because the only way to decolonize the curriculum is to re-assess how we're teaching and what we're teaching. The dance education world needs to ask all of the same questions that dance presenters and dance companies are asking right now.
Dance educators must add culturally relevant teaching and critical dance pedagogy to their educational toolkit if we are to empower all dancers with stronger social justice skills and address the many inequities within the larger dance world.
In order to make this workshop as accessible as possible, and to encourage entire college departments and other institutions to sign up multiple registrants, we are offering a registration fee of only $20 per person. We hope many of you can use professional development funding to attend.
