Leadership, Advocacy, and Technology in Dance and Movement-based Practices
The Joyce Theater and NYU/Steinhardt host a new symposium designed for dance and movement-based professionals in higher education and leaders in the field interested in holding space for progressive ideas and critically examining approaches to pedagogy in leadership, advocacy, and technology. We invite you to engage in discourse and exploration of the topics below and submit a proposal to present on:
performance post-2020: lessons, losses, and discoveries
curriculum as curation (i.e., guest speakers, artists, repertoire, and faculty)
challenging and redefining mentorship, and increasing student agency
21st century currencies and tactics for sharing resources, power, and access
advancing equity and collaboration through transformative leadership
creative and critical engagement with technology
weaving technology, leadership, and advocacy in service of better futures
The symposium package includes tickets to experience three American dance companies appearing as part of The Joyce’s celebrated American Dance Platform curated by Ronald K. Brown. Dance workshops, receptions, networking, and more are part of the intimate consortium of key leaders from around the country willing to have honest discussions. Attendance is by application and space is limited
