University at Buffalo: Adjunct Instructor, Dance Studies

Position Summary The Department of Theatre and Dance at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, www.theatredance.buffalo.edu, invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Dance Studies, for the Fall 2018 semester. We seek an adjunct instructor who can contribute to the MFA Dance Studies curriculum. The successful applicant will teach 1 or more graduate dance theory courses with a focus on theories of embodiment, aesthetics and criticism. Opportunities to choreograph for student performers may also be available.

The Dance program at the University at Buffalo launched its new MFA in Fall 2017, with an emphasis on Dance Making. This program attracts students with diverse interests and backgrounds who want to expand their dance making skills in an interdisciplinary environment that supports collaborative artistic creation. Theory seminars attract students from across the university’s graduate programs in the arts and humanities. The MFA complements our dynamic undergraduate and graduate program offerings that include BA & BFA in Dance, MA & PhD in Theatre & Performance, and BAs & BFAs in Theatre, Music Theatre, and Design Technology. Minimum Qualifications  | Terminal degree in Dance or related studies with appropriate coursework. Applicants with an MA or MFA will be considered with appropriate coursework and teaching experience. 1-3 years higher education teaching experience. Must have demonstrated ability to teach and mentor graduate student writing.

Preferred Qualifications  | PhD preferred
